Lance is a specialist Building Services engineer with over 40 years’ industry experience in a wide range of building services applications. His day to day work has a bigger goal, to improve the performance of existing buildings while up-skilling the industry to help change the conversation. His passion is to create greater awareness of the positive benefits of engineering better building environments.

An advocate of ground-breaking change in the creation and management of healthier more sustainable buildings, Lance’s speciality is Innovative Engineering, Building Management Systems, Continuous Commissioning and plant failure diagnostics.

As one of the first in NZ to qualify as a NABERSNZ Accredited Assessor and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, and also a course developer and trainer for Building Services courses, Lance’s breadth of experience is available to make positive change real, by improving the health and long term sustainability of buildings and peoples’ everyday work life.

Tammy is a specialist HVAC project and Contracts Manager with a background in building services engineering and a total of 21years’ industry experience. Spending five years as a Senior Facilities Manager for Colliers International Ltd and Progressive Enterprises Ltd gave Tammy invaluable insights into what it’s like working on the other side – as a result, she comprehends what FMs really require from their HVAC partner, and delivers accordingly. This intrinsic understanding is a big part of why Jacksons was named FMANZ Supplier of the Year in 2020.

Tammy’s success in project delivery comes from her focus on methodology. She’s big on pre-planning, developing critical paths, forming the right team for the job, and communicating with all stakeholders every step of the way. As a result, she’s known for her aptitude in delivering complicated building upgrades with minimal disruption to tenants.

Tammy has a vast knowledge of New Zealand requirements including the NZ Building Code, NZ Conditions of Contract Standards, Resource Management, and Health & Safety regulations and laws.

A seasoned engineer with more than 24 years of hands-on experience, Richard relocated from England to New Zealand in 1996 and built a career in engineering and leadership, including eight years as CEO of Dunedin Airport.

In his role at Jacksons, Richard focuses on opportunities in the transport sector and brings his leadership insight to the team. An inspirational speaker at the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, he contributes to Jacksons at a Board level and drives operational and strategic initiatives.

John has extensive experience in the HVAC industry having worked in it for 22 years. He started out doing HVAC contracting and commissioning before moving on to consulting roles; along the way he’s had plenty of engineering experience in commercial and industrial sectors, as well as healthcare, aged care, residential and education. He uses this breadth of expert knowledge to solve complex problems for our clients. He’s renowned for solving unusual engineering challenges, particularly the curly ones around existing building services systems. He’s also good at ESD – energy sustainability design.

David Fothergill

David has been in the HVAC industry as a mechanical engineer since 2008 and brings diverse experience to his role, from managing commercial projects to involvement in the service and maintenance side of the industry. At Jacksons his responsibilities include HVAC system surveying, HVAC system design, contract management, and construction monitoring.

During his career, David has worked on a range of buildings and applications including commercial office buildings, apartments, schools and education centres, libraries, council buildings, hospitals, prisons, and some specialist applications. His superpower lies in resolving issues within existing buildings, those tricky problems many other engineers won’t touch.

His eye for detail and excellent track record has seen David undertaking HVAC design and construction supervision for Restaurant Brands for the past few years. This involves both new stores and refurbishment of their existing stores for KFC, Pizza Hut, Carl’s Jnr and Taco Bell around the country – no small task, especially when it comes to live installs.

Dean is a mechanical engineer who specialises in designing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that work – and work well.

Dean uses his range of technical knowledge of building services systems to provide innovative and practical HVAC and hydraulics solutions for Jackson’s clients, including system surveying and construction monitoring.

He has a wealth of experience across a number of sectors including commercial, corrections and defence, with specialist knowledge in design for healthcare facilities, including operating theatres and medical gas systems. Dean also has experience in project management through his work with Auckland Transport.

With over seven years in the industry Christoff started in water management performing site investigations and audits, assessing water consumption through data logging, and evaluating and implementing water saving strategies.

Having made a transition Christoff brings valuable knowledge in the design of building hydraulic and fire protection services. He has worked across many sectors including residential, hospitality, healthcare, retail, commercial, and education.

At Jacksons Christoff is actively engaged in designing robust building hydraulic and fire protection services and provides a hands-on approach to services coordination in the Revit environment to deliver the best solution to his clients.

He is also a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand (CMEngNZ), and an Associate Member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).

Travis is responsible for leading Jackson’s in-house BIM-related digital technology where he assists our engineers by designing constructable solutions, as well as producing high-quality BIM models for our clients. Through producing constructable building information models (BIM), we are able to mitigate risk in projects by providing the right information at an early stage – a tremendous value-add for our clients.

Travis brings on-the-ground knowledge to his role: he started out working for an HVAC contractor as an installation assistant supervisor 13 years ago, before retraining as a BIM specialist. He’s since worked in many sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and education.

Kyle is a problem solver with a solid understanding of building services, specialising in mechanical services, and commissioning. At Jacksons he uses his knowledge of practical construction, mechanical engineering, and project delivery to help our customers. He enjoys meeting new people, tailoring engineering services solutions to meet their needs, and then overseeing project delivery.

Kyle has been in the construction industry for over 11 years, spending 9.5 of that as a building services consultant. Starting his career on-site means he’s got a good handle on practical and construction site building services knowledge, which then developed with his mechanical services design experience.

He has over 5 years of leading projects across a range of sectors including commercial, education, retail, residential, aged care, industrial and corrections, covering both new builds and existing buildings. Some of his more prominent gigs as a mechanical engineer include refurbishment of heritage building Australis Nathan, innovative new build Commercial Bay, Ormiston Junior College, and DFS Custom House retail refurbishment.

With a focus on accounts payable / receivable, payroll, expenses and general office duties, Ivy is across all of the crucial office functions, allowing the engineering staff to concentrate on their areas of expertise.

Kevin has over 30 years of design and contract observation and specialises in HVAC and hydraulic design. Kevin enjoys working side-by-side with our clients, using his reassuring expertise to help them through the entire process, from brief and design stage through to install. He’s brilliant at using his design and technical experience to help clients better understand and resolve their particular system problem – he’s grown a reputation of being able to solve the problems others can’t!

Kevin has worked in a variety of sectors including retail, commercial, education, healthcare and institutional, and on projects such as performing arts centres, police and custodial installations, hospitals, airport terminals, and commercial glasshouses. He’s also been involved in investigating performance of existing buildings and systems and in producing CAD drawings and specifications.

Mark is an experienced mechanical and hydraulic engineer who has over 39 years of experience across all building services sectors including institutional (Corrections, MOJ), commercial, public, healthcare and education. As well as extensive knowledge in these areas, Mark has also successfully managed and delivered many plant replacement projects and was responsible for the mechanical and electrical (M&E) upgrading works in 20+ UK hospitals.

Mark uses his expertise to help Jacksons clients with technical design advice, reports, technical reviews and project management.

Lajos is a specialist mechanical and hydraulic building services engineer with over 20 years’ experience that spans across commercial, educational, healthcare, museums, correction facilities, defence, swimming pools, industrial buildings and laboratories.

He takes pride in designing mechanical and hydraulic building services that are fit for purpose, providing accurate and quality documentation and an eye for detail that results in the best solution for his clients.

Lajos brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the sustainability arena as a NABERSNZ Accredited Assessor and a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) – Performance.

With 19+ years of industry experience, Evan has proven expertise across multiple sectors, including commercial offices, specialist buildings, hospitality, infrastructure, solar PV and mission-critical facilities.

Evan specialises in electrical building services design, conditional assessments, backup and uninterruptible power, and construction monitoring. Thriving in multidisciplinary design teams, he believes in a collective approach between design and contracting teams for successful project delivery. Marc has over 40 years’ experience in design drafting of HVAC, fire protection, electrical, security and BMS systems. At Jacksons, Marc manages the drawing office which produces computer-aided 2D and 3D documentation on CAD systems. He can create electronic plant room layouts, first and second fix layouts, vertical distribution drawings, schematics, as well as shop drawings for external HVAC contractors.

Fun fact: Marc designed HVACPAC – an HVAC-specific CAD plug-in for AutoCAD and BricsCAD that he sells world-wide.

Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge with over 40 years’ experience in building services having worked in New Zealand, Europe, and the United Kingdom in consulting and contracting roles.

Passionate about providing clients with cost effective, fit for purpose, environmental and energy responsible solutions Kevin works directly with project managers, multi-discipline design teams, and sector specialists.

Kevin’s diverse background includes building services design, energy usage assessment, preventative maintenance, and remedial works management across industry sectors such as commercial and retail, data centres, industrial manufacturing, and food processing facilities; public and private health; local and central government facilities.

Kevin is an Associate member of CIBSE IEng.

Brian setup Jackson Engineering Advisors in 1995 to make a positive difference to the Building Services industry, providing specialist skills to complex commercial and industrial projects, particularly around identifying and fixing problems with existing systems.

With over 40 years’ experience as a consulting engineer and contractor, across a wide range of mechanical services projects including hospitals, commercial buildings and industrial sites, Brian is now tasked with providing technical support for team members when required. He also works on complex industrial projects, drawing on his superior industry knowledge. Recent projects have included detailed engineering design and commissioning of air conditioning systems for a new hospital at Whakatane, project engineering for a major cold-storage complex in Auckland, pharmaceuticals drying applications and helping to develop an innovative system to dry kiwifruit before labelling.

Brian sold his share of the business to Lance Jimmieson in 2010 and moved to a lifestyle block outside Tauranga but still maintains a keen interest in the company today.

With an extensive 39 years in the industry, Dave is a seasoned engineer with diverse experience ranging from service, design, and installation of HVAC systems to leadership roles and area management.

In his role at Jacksons, Dave focuses on applying his in-depth knowledge and skills to add significant value in the design, execution, and management of HVAC and Refrigeration projects. Specialising in systems auditing, commissioning/re-commissioning and testing, as well as diagnostic and problem-solving in HVAC and refrigeration projects, his meticulous approach to problem-solving and project budgeting provides our clients with an exceptional experience.

Tom has extensive experience in designing HVAC and hydraulics systems for numerous Dunedin sites and projects in the lower South Island, including the Dunedin Council Chambers & Town Hall and many in the University of Otago campus. He also has extensive experience in BMS and controls systems design, having worked as a senior controls system design engineer for almost ten years.

He brings a broad knowledge of not only HVAC, hydraulics and building services controls, but also incredible knowledge on the local building stock, having worked in the region most of his working life.

Martin’s multi-faceted experience and specialised skills in both HVAC system design and project management make him an invaluable asset to the Jacksons’ team. Over the past seven years, James has worked within the construction industry, collaborating with a diverse range of clients to develop tailored solutions for mechanical, HVAC, and hydraulic services. His expertise spans several key sectors, including commercial buildings, healthcare, aged care, education, and government infrastructure.

Notable projects James has contributed to include the Bowen Government Precinct, Ohakea Air Force Base, the National Archives building, Wellington Convention Centre (Takina), and the New Plymouth Base Hospital redevelopment.
