King’s College Technology Block

Kings College
Kings College

The brief:

Auckland’s King’s College needed an air conditioning system installation in their new three-storey technology block.

Solution:

The stand-out feature in this installation is the automatic motorised windows – how wide they open depends on the room temperature and outdoor weather conditions. To stop the air from feeling stuffy (which isn’t conducive to study), airflow is vital. For some rooms we achieved this with fan-powered ventilation systems which draw air out of the rooms and discharge it outside; in other rooms, airflow comes naturally as the warm air rises to the motorised windows or shutters at high level.
